Dyscartia

Above: Jeff Rients' recently revealed vertical geomorph map of the Caves of Myrddin. The word "start" is the South Tower and "finish" shows where the fire breathing dragon lives.

Below: the map my PC was selling, after visiting the dungeon, advertising A Path To The Lair of the Redde Wyrme And Its Many Attendannt Treasures As Drafted By An Actualle Explorrer Thereof. It was good enough to get the party that bought it to the dragon's (still unlooted) lair but, as you can see, it wasn't pretty--I somehow managed to get east and west completely reversed.

But, hey, I know up from down and that's what's important.

Completely reversed is much better than "partially reversed."

That's a good map.

In the Tower of Zordaz ConstantCon sessions I played in, I managed to have the same troubles with east and west while mapping; and that was in a traditional horizontal dungeon. This sounds like it would have been a far greater challenge. Was this all from Jeff's verbal descriptions alone?

The second map is an example of how I do maps if I'm in a pinch and can't flesh them out. A system of circles or boxes and arrows pointing in various directions with notes on traps, monsters, environs, etc.

Cool maps

Zak, you made a font out of your handwriting, didn't you? Weird.

someone else made it into an actual font. I just made an alphabet and scanned it so that when I was editing Vornheim I could cut and paste in words onto hand-lettered maps when necessary.

I recommend it, actually. Useful to have around.

Nonsense! This map was clearly made by one of your backwards-talking goblins!

The second map looks kinda like a subway map.
